I’M ELYSSA HERNANDEZ, LPC
Stop being the hero of everyone else’s journey when you were meant to be the heroine of your own.
Women’s therapist treating anxiety, perfectionism, & trauma. Offering Accelerated Resolution Therapy® (ART)*, and holistic therapy.
But what no one knows is that armor is held together with duct tape and dry shampoo. And why wouldn’t it be? If you’re like a lot of the women I see, you’ve been rescuing everyone in your life since you were a kid.
Now you’re a full-on adult but you’re still the only one in your life who seems to know how to manage… anything. Maybe you're the reliable one at work or the mature one in your relationship or family. When your phone rings and you see your mom’s picture, you still pick up even though you know she’s about to ask for a favor.
But when you need someone to be there for you, there’s no one to call, so you handle it yourself. Again. It feels like everyone needs something from you, but you’ve been giving your whole life and it’s getting to the point where there’s nothing left in you to give.
That’s usually when my clients find me.
Sometimes you feel like everyone’s knight in shining armor…
How I work
Therapy is a protected moment to slow down, feel, listen, and reconnect with yourself.
Do you smell that? It’s probably the palo santo I burned to cleanse the space before you arrived. Or it could be the warm cup of cocoa waiting for you. There are blankets on the couch if you want to get cozy, and, don’t worry, I’ve got plenty of tissues.
Now, let me tell you the story about a small-town girl who ran away to the big city with $700 and a whole lot of unprocessed childhood trauma. That small-town girl was living in a very lonely world full of mistakes and misguided decisions. She tried to heal her trauma the “traditional” way and it wreaked havoc on her physical body.
Today, she’s a therapist and a badass woman who operates with the philosophy that the body needs to be supported while our mind and memories heal.
I’ve told you my story, and now I hope you’ll share yours (but only as much as you’re comfortable with). There’s literally zero shame here. Sometimes our hardest moments are an invitation toward deeper healing and understanding. Consider our work together like a vision quest with me as your guide. We will incorporate a variety of modalities and inspirations from goddess cards and yogic tradition to functional health and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).
My hope is that one day you’ll outgrow me. I wholeheartedly believe therapy is here to meet you in a specific season of your life. The ultimate goal is for you to complete that journey, take what you've learned, and step fully back into the world.
THIS IS WHERE PSYCHOTHERAPY MEETS FUNCTIONAL HEALTH
I don’t care how many affirmations you tape to your mirror—they won’t do shit if the issue’s in the body.
By paying attention to the body, we stop putting the blame for a psychological issue or perfectly normal hormone fluctuation on a dysfunction of the mind.
If you have a thyroid issue that’s causing brain fog and fatigue that feels like depression, we can't outrun that by talking about your childhood. It's important for you and me to know whats happening in your body. This helps us maximize our time together, and gives you better results before we start diving into anything else.
I really can’t overstate this. Our mood, personality, and sex drive all change depending on that time of the month. That’s how your hormones are supposed to work. But because men’s hormones keep their mood stable and consistent while ours cycle, we often perceive it as something being “wrong” with us. That’s why I’ll often ask my clients to track their menstrual cycles, so we can see these patterns for ourselves.
Cycle tracking can also help us identify if there are any functional issues hormonally. Going through tough times can do a number on our hormones, getting them all out of whack and impacting our mental health. If we know there’s a functional issue, we can focus on regulating that instead of trying to think away your symptoms.
Women aren’t just “smaller” versions of men, and we deserve a multidimensional approach to mental health inclusive of our bodies, hormones, and life stage.

My core Values
Every woman has the capacity to move beyond survival—into a grounded body, an empowered heart, and a whole, integrated sense of self.
Beauty
Beauty is one of the ways we remember we're alive, and I do my best to imbue our experience with it. For my in-person clients, I keep my office a space of serenity, with calming scents in the air and comfy blankets on the couch. I also offer nature therapy and nature-based intensives that encourage healing through the beauty of the landscapes that surround us.
Nourishment
You can't outrun anxiety when your body is running on fumes, and I'm tired of watching women try to therapy away their mental health when nobody has asked them about their diet or when they last had bloodwork done. I help you build systems that vitalize all the areas of your life instead of depleting you.
Courageousness
The journey to healing is not easy to embark upon, and often we don’t even have a choice. But the hard things you went through have something to teach you. Just by starting therapy, you're already braver than you think you are. You can borrow some of my courage if you're running low right now.
Vulnerability
I don't want women to be ashamed of their struggles or perceived weakness or to fear being seen for the softer parts of themselves. Being real and letting people in is how we connect. I’ll cry with you in sessions because, in my world, there’s no such thing as an ugly crying face. I think it’s beautiful.
Strength
Strength isn't about overriding your needs, holding everything together for everyone else, or pretending nothing touches you. True strength is being affected without losing yourself. You can be girly and into high fashion and also be the person nobody wants to mess with. I want that for you.
