Your first session is designed to be a collaborative, supportive space to get acquainted, review your intake information, and map out your path forward. Here is how our first time together typically flows:
Confidentiality & Paperwork Review: We will start by reviewing confidentiality personally and answering any questions you might have about the intake paperwork you completed.
Your Story & Goals: Next, we will dive into what brings you into therapy, what you are most frustrated with, what is important to you, and your desired outcomes. We will also review the results of the assessments completed in your intake paperwork so we have a clear starting point.
Holistic Foundations: Because mental health is deeply connected to your physical well-being, we will likely touch on everyday foundations like nutrition, hydration, and sleep.
Resources & "Side Quests:" If relevant, I may recommend a helpful book, article, or podcast as a "side quest" to support your growth between sessions.
Scheduling & Next Steps: We will wrap up by answering any remaining questions, scheduling your next few sessions, and discussing whether an extended or Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) session is the right fit for your goals.
-
How long you need to be in therapy is entirely up to you. Every person is different, and I believe in meeting each individual right where their capacity is.
General Pacing: Typically, I like to see clients weekly for the first 6 to 12 weeks to build strong momentum, before gradually moving to alternating weeks. However, some clients prefer or benefit from ongoing weekly sessions, and I am here to meet you wherever you are.
Complex or Severe Trauma: If we are working through complex or severe trauma responses, I generally recommend weekly sessions for 3 to 6 months to provide the consistency needed for deep, sustainable healing.
We are always a team. I regularly check in with you and adjust our session frequency based on your progress, your goals, and how you are feeling along the way.

Yes, therapy is confidential, with a few important legal and ethical exceptions designed to keep you and others safe.
How confidentiality works:
Private Space: Everything we discuss in session—whether in person at the Fort Worth office or via our secure virtual telehealth platform—is strictly confidential. I cannot and will not share your information or that you are attending therapy without your explicit written consent.
Minor Exceptions: As a licensed professional counselor, there are a few standard legal limits to confidentiality where I am legally mandated to break it:
Imminent Harm: If there is suspected or disclosed abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or disabled person.
Danger to Self: If a client is actively suicidal or poses an imminent threat of serious physical harm to themselves.
Danger to Others: If a client communicates a clear and imminent threat of physical harm to another person.
Legal Subpoena: In rare cases, if a court legally orders the release of records.
Whenever possible, we will always talk through any concerns before confidentiality ever needs to be navigated outside of our room.
